CNN wants you to know it’s absolute garbage

You have no doubt heard that, a few days ago, Trump posted a brief parodic video in which he is seen kicking McMahon/CNN’s ass.

This gave the media another excuse to pretend that fascism was on the verge of taking over the US. Among the sophisticates, many also claimed they were distressed by the fact that the President of the United States would post such a juvenile tweet, which they said was “beneath the dignity of the office”.

And it’s true that, in the past, holders of that office have always been a lot more dignified. For instance, after everyone learned that he was getting blown by Monica Lewinsky in the Oval Office, Bill Clinton ordered the murder of a few people in Sudan and deprived thousands more of medicines they needed not to die, because after his little indiscretion he wanted to be presidential. (There is nothing that makes you presidential like killing a bunch of people abroad based on no evidence whatsoever. For instance, even Trump was declared presidential after he attacked Syria in retaliation for the chemical attack in Khan Sheikhoun, despite the lack of evidence that Assad was responsible.) So I’m sure you can imagine my shock when I saw that Trump had posted that video on Twitter. What troubled me the most isn’t even that, by engaging in such a horrible behavior, he destroyed the dignity of his office beyond repair, but that it was Trump who did that. How could a man who, up until that point, was universally believed to be a model of virtue do such a thing. Not him, not Donald Trump, this perfect Christian! I was devastated. I lost my appetite, started to contemplate suicide and, for a brief moment, even considered embracing religion. Honestly, after such a disappointment, I’m not sure I will ever find meaning in life again.

Anyway, I was plunged in the depths of despair when I heard that CNN had tracked down the author of that video, which caused me so much misery. Thank God we have great journalists who know what really matters and did not hesitate to spend a lot of time and resources hunting this criminal online. They found him and proceeded to essentially blackmail him, before publishing this absolutely unbelievable article in which they openly brag about it:

On Reddit, “HanA**holeSolo” took credit for inspiring the tweet. Soon after, “HanA**holeSolo’s” other posts on Reddit, some of which included racist and anti-Semitic imagery, quickly circulated on social media.

Now the user is apologizing, writing in a lengthy post on Reddit that he does not advocate violence against the press and expressing remorse there and in an interview with CNN for other posts he made that were racist and anti-Semitic.

The apology came after CNN’s KFile identified the man behind “HanA**holeSolo.” Using identifying information that “HanA**holeSolo” posted on Reddit, KFile was able to determine key biographical details, to find the man’s name using a Facebook search and ultimately corroborate details he had made available on Reddit.

“First of all, I would like to apologize to the members of the reddit community for getting this site and this sub embroiled in a controversy that should never have happened,” he wrote. “I would also like to apologize for the posts made that were racist, bigoted, and anti-semitic. I am in no way this kind of person, I love and accept people of all walks of life and have done so for my entire life. I am not the person that the media portrays me to be in real life, I was trolling and posting things to get a reaction from the subs on reddit and never meant any of the hateful things I said in those posts. I would never support any kind of violence or actions against others simply for what they believe in, their religion, or the lifestyle they choose to have. Nor would I carry out any violence against anyone based upon that or support anyone who did.”

After posting his apology, “HanA**holeSolo” called CNN’s KFile and confirmed his identity. In the interview, “HanA**holeSolo” sounded nervous about his identity being revealed and asked to not be named out of fear for his personal safety and for the public embarrassment it would bring to him and his family.

CNN is not publishing “HanA**holeSolo’s” name because he is a private citizen who has issued an extensive statement of apology, showed his remorse by saying he has taken down all his offending posts, and because he said he is not going to repeat this ugly behavior on social media again. In addition, he said his statement could serve as an example to others not to do the same.

CNN reserves the right to publish his identity should any of that change.
I know you must think it’s a joke, that this can’t be real, but I can assure you it is. Personally, I have always thought that CNN deserved everything Trump was giving them, and I thoroughly enjoyed watching him constantly humiliate them. But after this I’m going to enjoy it even more. And I’m pretty sure Trump’s response to this is going to be absolutely epic.

In Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s famous poem, Prometheus says that “whom the gods would destroy they first make mad”. The most entertaining part of Trump’s political career since he announced he was running for President is that, although I doubt it’s usually premeditated, he seems to have this extraordinary power to push his opponents to do really stupid things. Seriously, it’s almost supernatural how he drives them completely insane, it’s as if there was a curse on everyone who goes after him. In this case, since CNN published this article, Internet has been going crazy. If you want to have a good laugh, you should check the hashtag #CNNBlackmail on Twitter or Facebook, it’s absolutely priceless. For instance, here is something I just saw on Facebook, which I find hilarious:

I really hope that Andrew Kaczynski, the piece of shit who wrote that article for CNN, doesn’t have any skeleton in his closet. Otherwise, he better get himself ready for a hell of a ride, because every shitlord on every dark corner of the Internet is going to be looking for dirt on him and give him some of his own medicine. As for CNN, this is going to be a major public relations disaster for the network, but I would lie if I said that I was sorry about that.

EDIT: If you don’t think Internet shaming can have serious consequences, you should read this article in the New York Times, which described what happened to Justine Sacco a few years ago.

  1. In many ways, Trump trolled his way to the White House. The man is perfectly suited to destroy any and all establishment, MSM, wonk, and elite types. He has everything he could possibly want and so cares little about the outcome. Moreover, he played with the media, business owners, and managers in NYC real estate for over 3 decades. He always doubles-down at the right time, and in the right way, to keep his base from eroding and to win ambivalent stragglers to his cause. On the rare occasion he aplogizes, it is framed in the most magnanimous way possible.

You can’t beat Trump at his own game, so the better strategy is to just ignore him to the best of your ability. This is the problem with the Democrats right now. They would be in much better shape if they just did their own thing and focused on non-Trump stuff as much as possible.

    1. I see that as a collective action problem. This kind of ridiculous, over-the-top criticism of Trump doesn’t work with the people the Dems need to win over, who aren’t ideologically committed liberals. But it works great with the base of the party, which creates an incentive to do it when you’re a Democrat, because it makes you very popular with the grassroots, gives you more visibility and allows you to raise more money.
