The blog is now bilingual

Just so you know, I have installed Polylang, a plugin for WordPress that helps you create a multilingual website. So you can now switch between English and French by clicking on the little flag in the top menu and it will change the language of the interface. I will continue to write posts in both English and French, but I don’t plan to translate them. If someone thinks it’s interesting enough, perhaps they will sometimes translate my posts, but frankly I doubt it. (Although I was quite impressed to find out that someone had translated my post on feminism in Spanish, even though it’s very long and probably not easy to translate. I thought it was pretty cool that someone had taken the pain to do that and didn’t even asked for recognition.) I just want the interface of the blog and the categories to be translated.

Apparently, Polylang was not really developed for people who have a bilingual blog, with posts that are sometimes in one language and sometimes in another but not translated. So when you’re on the English version of the blog, you only see posts in English and, when you’re on the French version, you only see posts in French. This is not quite the behavior I want, so I tried to modify the WordPress theme I’m using so that posts in both languages are shown no matter which version of the blog one is using, but so far it only works when you’re on the French version for some reason. I will look into this and fix the problem eventually, but I don’t have time at the moment, so in the meantime you will have to use the French version of the blog if you want to see posts in French.
